I think they use the 1-Wire bus for the interconnect from Dallas Semiconductors and X10 over the power lines, so that being the case you should be able to go up to 30 meters with standard phone cable and much much further with shielded cat5 or so. So 15 feet should be no problem.

Jim, the stated distance officially from Neptune is 15'. That being said, if you make a new cable using Ethernet Twisted pair, you can get huge distances. There are many reports of > 50ft. I have 4 devices in line on mine with 20ft between each, so from the AC3 to the last DC4 I have almost 80ft.

The pinouts are in the manual, but you can look at the connector and map it straight through.
