???I seek your guidance, I have a 55gal - and the overflow box is approx 1/2" above water w/ 1" supply to 15gal sump. Water level in sump is 4 1/2" deep, being pumped out by a RIO 3100. my return line is also 1" dumping back into the tank creating a whole mess of BUBBLES!! like one giant air stone clouding the tank . Should I raise the overflow box and increase the water depth in the sump by adding a gallon or two?

We need to figure out wat the problem is first.

Is this new plumbing, or has it been running for a while? It takes a little while for new plumbing to break in and stop dumping bubbles.

Are you getting a lot of bubbles in your sump from the drain? If so, we need to reduce those so that they don't get pumped back up to the tank. Plenty of ways to do that. Bubble trap, baffles, and or slow the drain.
