Hi all. Tank is coming together. Planning on doing some livestock switchovers on Wednesday and could use some help.

Question 1:
I was planning on just catching fish in current tank, placing each (individually) in 1/2 gallon plastic containers, floating containers in new tank while acclimating.
That sound OK?
Is there any other easier way?

Question 2:
Also want to add some stock during the changeover. Any thoughts or advice on the additions would be very appreciated.

I currently have:
O Clown
Chalk Bass
Tomini Tang
Cardnalfish
Solon Fairy Wrasse
Spotted dragonette

Thinking of adding:
Anthias
2nd (small) clown
Purple firefish
Diamond goby (or yellow goby/pistol shrimp pair)
Can I add a second Wrasse (eg 6 line) with the Salon wrasse?

I don't see the need for fish acclimation. As long as salinity is the same and temp is close just switch them and knock out and extra stress.

As far as adding stock, as long as you won't have to deal with a cycle I see no problem. Just keep an eye on how much your adding so as to not overload the bio.

I also see no reason to not add another wrasse. I personally love my 6-line. But many feel they get nasty. I have not had that experience with my current one or my old full grown that decided to swim into the pumps.

Blennies are really cool. Also I recently got a melanarus and it sleeps in the sand. The coloration is very nice too.

Your clown is almost certainly a female at this point so look for either a juvenile or a male from a pair. Clowns can be annoying to pair sometimes.

You can certainly mix wrasses, I am in the no 6 line wrasse camp but every fish can be different. We love our melanarus and they eat pests which is kind of a nice thing to have besides beaing beautiful. Diamond gobies are sand sifters so be aware of that, again we love the goby pisol pairings (diamonds I don't think pair with pistols but I could be wrong)

I would wait for a bit before adding any additional fish. Get the tank stable and the existing live stock settled for a few weeks. I love anthias. But you have to be ready to feed heavy. It will almost certainly take time to get them to eat pellet. I started mine of on frozen Cyclops.

Thanks for the advice all. Think I'll go with a male melanarus, a juvenile clown, and a yellow goby/pistol shrimp combo.
I was under the impression that with a Tang and a Clown it would be best to introduce any new fish during the changeover. Is that not a good idea?

What size tank? 90G is from where you are upgrading from or upgrading to?

It is considered good to add livestock during a tank change because no fish has a territory to defend.
