carbon filter media

When should a carbon filter media be introduced into a tank??????
Currently the tank is running for about 4-5 months. I have finally kicked my first ick attack not with out some causulties.

72 gallon bow front
Wet dry filter
UV twister sterilizer
Berliner skimmer

3 clown fish
1 pepermint shrimp
1 sailfin

about 70lbs of live rock.

From what I have read, most folks just use it to give the tank a nice polish then remove it.

I dont run it and havent had a problem.

Only add carbon if you want to polish your water......

If you have had ich problems I think you have issues with your tank....... Do you QT? Do you have a hospital tank?

i run carbon constantly. 8lbs. of kents reef carbon a month. 150 gallon tank. carbon attracts microscopic particles like a sponge. does not differentiate between good and bad.
