Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I've found them to be hit or miss. I have two that stay relatively accurate, but you have to change the batteries quite frequently (like every 3 months or so, they begin to get less and less accurate as the batteries begin to drain). Makes it kinda costly in the long run as far as thermometers go. And whatever you do, DO NOT GET THEM WET! LOL! I had one "explode" on me once.
I use the old reliable glass floating thermometers, but instead of the suction cup, I replace it with these:
Those clips look pretty cool . I'll have to try them, the suction cup sucks after a while.
I use this one currently on my Pico seems to be very accurate, it reads about 1 degree off from my Ranco. I put the coral life in the same tank and it read 74.7 and the Tom aquarium read 77.8
The clips are great. Only thing that sucks is if you need a pair of clips, like say for a heater, you need to buy two packs. I didn't pay attention to that little fact the first time I bought them.. grr.. But, the little buggers will hold anything up! I lost the outside magnet for one of my koralia 3's, couldn't find it anywhere. Must have dropped it somewhere during the move. Anyway, I used one of the magnets from these clips, and combined with the suction cup built into the koralia mount, it's been holding it in place for 3 months now!
I used one of the clips to replace the suction cup on a veggie clip too. My blue spot naso is, shall we say, a little rambunxious (sp?) with the veggie clip and yanks the suction cup right off the glass. All he does with this magnet clip is drag it around the glass. Kinda funny to watch, actually..
I will have to check out the TOM aquariums thermometer.
