I have a ten gallon nanno. In it I have 4 zoa polyps, a small kenya tree frag, a small torch coral frag, and a small xenia frag. I also have two peppermint shrimp, a scooter blenny, a file clam, a brown brittle star, and array of snails, blue legs, scarlets, an emerald crab, about 10 pounds of LR, and about a 2 inch sand bed. I'm running a small power filter. The tank is fairly new. I have never done a nano before, and while it is a fun learning experience, it is quite the challlenge. I noticed yesterday that my ammonia was up a little, .10-.25 ppm when tested. and the nitrates were up to about 10 ppm...Nitrites 0 and Ph about 8.1. Anyway, I did a water change hoping to bring the levels down, and I would say they cut them in half. The tank, while fairly new, is established. I don't think the levels indicate anything to do with bio filtration being that I have 10-12 pounds of LR and a bio power filter. I'm wondering, then, if it could be that I'm overfeeding. I feed the corals Kent Microvert, 10 drops a week, spread out. I also feed 3 drops of phyto feast a day for the coral and the file clam, although the shrimp seem to eat it to. I also feed the shrimp and blenny a little bit of frozen brine shrimp twice a day. Do you think this is too much? What could I do immediately, other than cutting the feeding, to bring the levels back to 0 quickly. I don't want to lose these corals. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I can't stand the precense of ammonia or a level of niotrates above 5.
