how cool can i keep live rock while curing. I plan on doing this in my basement but don't want to have to run heat on it if i can help it.

Run a heater minimum 78 degrees. You are cultivating bacteria that evolved in the tropical seas and you want to encourage them to colonize the rock. A cold method could work but will take much more time and the final results could be problematic. The live rock is the foundation of the biological filtration of your tank, not a good thing to take a short cut on.
