I have a 6' 120 that is 18" front to back. to show you how much I hate it I'm looking into a tank that's 42" or 48" deep. Depending on what you plan on keeping I would go 180 for SPS or 210 LPS/sof coral. Chaeck out Sanjay's website for the most efficient bulb/ballast combos. There are some 250W combos that equal the par of some 400's. remember you don't have to blast the entire tank with the same light intensity so you could reduce the amount of lights.

That's a good point about the light Jcurry. If you keep your lighting in mind when aquascaping you can have areas good for sps and other areas good for lower light corals.
