Growth on live rock

Hey guys. I've been noticing a slow growth on a couple of my rocks that seem to some type of algae that looks gold when growing. When formed it almost looks like a Monti cap.

Any idea what this is? It's almost amber in color.

The closet thing on my rock that you described was a spaghetti worm. Does it have stringy appendages?

Some form of sponge is the first thing that pops into mind. Need a pic though.

It almost looks like ears!
