Hi there, I just installed a JBJ 1/15th mini chiller and while the hoses are tight and there's no trace of water around the connectors. But water is comming from the bottom of the base its a slow leak.
is there anything I should check? should I open the case?
I'm chiller illiterate but I'm wondering if it might be condensation from the cooling unit. Is there a missing pan or something that should go underneath?
I got say when I set mine up my hoses leaked at the connection So I had to really tighten the clamp.
So I was all done and no leaks and just before I closed the cabinet I saw water running from underneath. I was like Holy S The bottom is leaking.
I kept drying it up and it stopped
What was happening was water was running down from the top and leaking out the bottom
Make sure the rubber grommet is seated really good
Jason when you say you tighten the clamp you mean the screw clamp that has the grommet inside right?
There's no water on or around the connections, I'm wondering if that hex fitting were the clamp and hose get attached needs to be tightened with a wrench...
BTW it leaks when there's water being pumped thru it, if I turn off the powerhead it doesnt leak so its the pressure that drives the water out.
I used the pump that came with the unit on the side of the skimmer.
Quality control on JBJ gear is horrible. First I had that miss-sized leg on the stand, plus the paint has dried drippings and one of the side vents falls right out because of the wrong size hole.
The chiller had the two hex fittings which support the hose clamps very loose, I just tighten them it doesn't seem to leak.... for now.
