I am currently running a nova extreme 8 x 54w watt T5 light fixture on my tank. I am considering buying the maxspect 300w 16000k led light fixture for my tank. I have not been able to see one in person, only videos of the fixture. What I am trying to figure out is if this would actually be considered an upgrade to the light I have? Or would I be spending a lot of money to buy a newer technology light that doesn't put out as much light as my current fixture? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching for a lighting fixture for my upgrade. Like you I currently use a Current T5. I keep mostly SPS's in my tank. Your question has been asked a million times. Base on reading thru a lot of posts on RC this is what I have so far:
MH + T5 is the best for SPS. Color and growth are great. Shimmering effect.
Next is T5 + LED combo, including ATI and Pacific Sun
T5 alone is not bad but no shimmer and tank looks flat.
Running only LED is still being debated. I see a lot of great setups using LED including many of our own members tanks. But there are a lot of people switching from T5 and MH complaining about LED and switching back. I seldom see people complain about T5 or MH for the poor growth and color.
For my next fixture I am heavily leaning towards the ATI LED Powermodule. I am a noob so I need all the help I can get

Lots of us have razors. Aquatic Obsessions runs them over tanks.
I'm in a similar situation, well kinda. I'm running a ReefBreeders Photon48 over my 150 and my corners r shaded. Was looking into Kessils maybe for each side but not sure if I should just sell my current setup and go all new. Problem is, there are sooo many different lights to choose from! And of course, money.
I had t5's over my small sw tank and it seemed okay. Then I jumped right into LEDs. Not really sure where I was going with this story but I figured we were kind of in the same boat with choosing new lights Lol
