How often are you cleaning the neck and skimmer cup of your skimmers? Mine is absolutely foul ;D , was wondering if it had any bearing on the potential skim it could produce.

Don't use a MRC. I use a MTC. Yes it will effect the skimmate it produces. It slows it down.

I also wonder if having the water bubbling around that foulness could actually leach stuff back into the water. How often does everyone clean that?

I clean mine about once every week. If I'm lazy I'll go 2 weeks. It definitely skims better when it is clean.

Phyl brought up a good point. It makes sense, I wonder if that could cause algae problems.
