Mounting SPS /Acro frags?

Hello All,
Picked up a bunch of scrap SPS from a guy who was breaking down his tank locally.
I was the guy who came up and cleaned p the mess. Picked up the final couple coral colonies, a bunch of rock with corals, mostly red cap, hence the offer, sand, and a few other goodies.

ANYWAY, my questions is....
I took the sand too because as soon as I got everything into the house last week I sifted the sand and sorted out those pieces of corals.
Alot more red cap, but also a few other diamonds, like a ORA Kelly Green Psammapora, some orange sentosa, purple chalice with yellow eyes, and a few others.
ALSO a bunch of sticks.
i had no glue so they were all tossed in a basket and thrown into my main display.

They vary in size. I am NOT 100% sure what is DEAD, what is discolored, or what.
There are a good 50-60 pieces, I was thinking of getting a nice shaped rock, and attach all the Acro style to one rock. Gonna look like a pin cushion. And all the birdsnest type looking SPS onto another rock.
This is really to get them exposed properly to the flow and light.

Does this make sense?
As they start to color up I could always snip em off and relocate more appropriately.

Any advice is appreciated.

I mean if there are any that look really healthy, I can mount them on their own, but for the others...

Yes for the others, mount of a rock with some space around it and see if they are alive. I hate seeing frag plugs in a beautiful tank

HA! I have frag plugs everywhere. I just don't think I could fit 30-40 frag plugs to hold all these little pieces.

So what I do with acros/ sps frags is I always mount them on a frag plug. No matter how many.
Frag plugs are perfect for inspecting new frags.
Frag plugs are also very easy to move from one location to another. So if your frag need more light you can move it to a place in that tank that gets more light or flow.
I have learned not to mount frags on rocks right away.
I dip frags multiple times after I purchase a frag so having it on a frag plug make this easy.
Once the frag encrusts or has growth at that point I can make a decision where that frag does best in my tank.
At that time I have a bunch of rubble rock that I use to take
The frag off the plug and mount it on rock.

If you don’t want frags in your display the solution is a frag tank.

So, weren't as many keepers as I thought. He did have some sweet colonies of blues and greens, was hoping for more of them.
Maybe 2-3 little one inch guys of those, but lots of non acro sticks.
BUT there were many bland baige color, the same as a small mother colony near the base rock circled to the Left/bottom left. A different colony but also very brown in the upper right. Radio Active dragon eyes bottom center.

Who knows.


Just saying I woulda bought the other stuff that was more money if I would have know how recently torn up his tank was.
I picke dup one of these two puff balls when I got the rock.

After being in my tank for 3-4 days.
And this DOES NOT! do it justice. More rainbow!
