Many of you may be familiar with Pet Place on Rt. 23 in Wayne (northern NJ) – they’ve been around awhile. In the past, to be honest - I've heard good and bad stories about the place ... but just wanted to comment on the very positive improvement (in my opinion) … their fish department is REALLY REALLY great these days. The credit mostly goes to the “new guy” Chris … who has taken responsibility for much of the management, care and selection of recent stock. Today, Chris walked me over to the new exotics he picked up – which included a very cool Cuddlefish and Octopus(es). They’re beyond the standard yellow Tangs and Clowns now, and probably had about 8 different Wrasses – good sizes, great prices. < if we only had more tanks, sigh >
Having only gotten into reefing recently – I’m no judge of coral, but to my eye, they look good and the ‘pink and green’ brain-looking thing as been doing well in my 12g nano. Chris can sense my enthusiasm, but is quick to provide honest advice on selection – example, I didn’t go home with the Toad thingie I wanted (too big, too much for my little tank, he said).
On an un-related note – Pet Place once carried cats in addition to dogs (fish, reptiles and dogs now). About 4 years ago, while running in to get some fish food, my husband and I left wish a Cornish Rex kitten. Pookie, pictured below, is my ‘baby’. I love all my fish, all ~ 1,000g … but this guy is what makes my work@home gig meaningful! No kids here, just fur and fins …
Anyway – take a run over to Pet Place in Wayne, ask for Chris or Sal (the owner) … do say hi, maybe there’s a sponsorship in our NJRC future! Again, my opinion - but they get a B+ and with Chris' help, they're pushin' for an A! ;D
