Powder Blue Tang

OK - I already have a yellow tang, purple tang and a hippo tank (all over 5 inches, hippo is 6).

I have been thinking about a powder blue tang... I know, I know it is a bad idea to add a new tang now.

Is there anyone who thinks this may work ;D

Sunny I wouldn't suggest it. Hippo and powder blue are both pretty shy and you don't want to upset the balance. PB could easily be harrassed by yellow or purple.

when my 210 was set up i first added a hippo about 2-3" then a couple months later i added three yellow tangs, a powder blue tang, and a lipstick tang. they all lived peacefully. if you added all the tangs at once it might be a different story but now that they have been established in your tank i wouldn't recommend it. you could sell all your tangs and go out and buy all new tangs and add them all at the same time. not ideal but an option.

I was thinking ...this is a chance for you to get some different fish. Your tank is big enough for a trigger which you would want to get last or any number of different fish. Fish each display their own set of behaviors so diversity is interesting.

Hmm James, that is a good idea. I will however have to convince the wife to get rid of the tangs I have.

I am not suggesting that..just to add something different then a 4th tang.
Part of the problem is they have the same behaviors and niche so competition exists.
A trigger(only as one suggestion) would occupy a different niche.

Ahh OK I see what you mean. Well I was very sure that adding a new tang now was a bad idea. I just wanted to see if someone thinks otherwise ;D
There is always hope you know ..

The trigger will be for my FOWLR tank sometime (read soon) down the road ...

Yeah too late for you to add another tang. I agree with jr, a trigger would be nice. I have a bigger blue throat in my reef with my tangs they all get along fine. Somethin different to look at anyway
