Retrofit JBJ formosa for T5 ?

I am not so sure if I am saying this right, but when I hear "retro-fit", the thing that comes to mind is modifying a setup so that it can accommodate something it wasn't originally meant to do.

In light of what I just said, would you think it is possible to retrofit PC light fixtures to T5 light fixtures ?

I have a JBJ formosa http://www.aquariumplants.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=JBJDX&CartID=0 which is an outstanding fixture, with 3 fans and a neat hinged hood, and is really easy to operate.

But I would like to graduate to SPS soon and I cant do that with PC lights.

I am ready to replace pretty much everything within the fixture [ballasts, bulb holders, reflectors].
Could someone please let me know if this could be done?

What is preventing treating my light fixture plastic casing like a canopy? The casing very well ventilated and has 3 fans. Hasn't anyone ever tried replacing the wiring of their old Light fixture? Gotta be an easier project than building an aquarium stand.

How do you explain the "retro" in a retro fit then? If canopies are so 80's why do people still use them?

[Excuse my rambling ... I am just a little bummed that there is no way I can salvage the JBJ PC light fixture, not because I paid for it .. but it seemed like a really solid fixture to have if you could fit T5 bulbs in it]

You could possably save the casing.
You would have to measure the thickness of your bulbs, ballasts and reflector see what the height of the "retro" is as well to see if everything will fit in your JBJ case.
You might need to have the T5 ballasts in a remote location.

I have gotten new lights ... but as a fixture I really liked the JBJ. I was trying to figure out if there was some way of salvaging it. If there is none, I would have to put it up for sale I suppose.

I like have no issues with remote ballasts either. Will keep looking for a while I suppose.
