Just wanted to see what kind of salt everyone is using. I just switched over to reef crystals from instant ocean. I was sick of the low mag, cal, and alk. i was also doing some research and the seachem salt looks pretty good. has anyone even seen the seachem salt being sold around here?

I haven't seen the Seachem, but I just switched to Tropic Marin after having gone from Instant Ocean to Reef Crystals and back to IO again.

IO's calcium was always low so I went to Reef Crystals but found that it still needed some adjustment for magnesium and it was harder to dissolve. I went back to IO since it was cheaper to start with and RC wasn't saving me much work.

I'm on my first bucket of Tropic Marin and it is much easier to mix and the calcium is good. The alk is a little low and I seem to have a high alk demand. Looks like I will always have to supplement a little of something.

The TM price is higher, the group buy committee is working on that in the background; but a bucket is supposed to make 200 gallons as compared to IO which makes 160, so it's not as much of a price increase as it seems.

I haven't had any luck getting 200g from a bucket of TM pro. Purely anecdotal but, it didn't seem like I got anymore from the TM than I did from RC (gallonage wise).

I suspected as much by looking at how much is in a tub. I suspect there's some fine print that says 200 gallons at 1.020 sg or something like that.
