size of image

hello all--this question, i think, has been asked before, but i cant find the answer---
what size should the image be, thats being sent in for the POTM--i know the image is resized---but would'nt it be easier to get a file already the size thats needed?
i know the images have to be sent in the week before the end of the month---so is the cutoff day this coming wednesday?

We take them as big as you have them, we post both the small and large versions (when people click on your image in the poll it takes them to the full size image).
