using a hot skimmer inside a filter?

just picked up a used aqua c remora. I have a aquaclear 500 on my 10 gallon tank. I'd like to hang the skimmer off the back of the filter from time to time. not going to constantly skim, doing a weekly water change. are there any issues from running a skimmer this way I should expect?

Weight.

The only thing that hold the AC 500 level is a small piece of plastic that will bend with just the weight of the filter. The added weight of the skimmer filled might through it over the edge. Plus the glass on a 10g is pretty darn thin.

How are you using the skimmer to do a WC. Doesn't really make sense.

not using the skimmer for the water changes. was just saying I am still going to continually do small weekly water changes and occaisionly use the skimmer. I did notice that small piece of plastic that sits on the bottom of the filter, ir did concern me its a bit flimsy

I've hooked it up and it seems to be okay. my tank is close enough to the wall where I can place the skimmer flush against the wall and run it through the filter. needed to place some carbon pad to stop the bubbles but it seems to be working well.

I'm curious if anyone knows if running a skimmer through the filter after its run through carbon is the best option?

eeally got the skimmer for a future bigger tank but figured I could work it in here with the 10 now from time ti time.

everything seems pretty sturdy. have a lot of rock in there too, your comment about the 10 gallon glass does concern me though

My opinion would be just run it constantly or switch to WC's. if you could pull off a 1/2 gal change per day that would more then take care of things. Another though would be to pull the AC 500 and just use the skimmer. If your Aqua C have the surface skimmer box you could just add a small piece of filter floss for mech filtration to it.

been running it inside the filter for the past 3 days, so far the results are looking good. skimmer seems to be doing a fine job of skimming. I like the flow I'm getting off running this filter along with a koralia nano pump. my fish and corals all looking great. I even had a yellow clown goby reappear after 2 weeks (honestly thought it was dead)

I do have some zoo's that've been closed up a while, I've been reading through the vitamin c dosing thread over at RC. thinking of starting up with it. has anyone here vitamin c dosed?

Do weekly water changes and no need for the skimmer. Assuming you are stocked within your limits and you have ample biological filtration
