Vinegar and Vodka Dosing

I,ll say it first.. This thread is useless without photos.
Ok thats out of the way now onto the topic
I started dosing a mix of vinegar and vodka a week ago . I read that vodka has more of a cyano risk than vinegar dosing so i am doing n 8:1vin:vod mix. I started below recomended dosing amounts and am amazed at the results. I really had no major issues with my tank but always look to tweek the colors of the sps. My sps polyps are extending to a point of some looking lke long haired hippies. I am dosing brightwell aminos along with fuel and reef pearls. I dose the aminos daily and the fuel/pearls about three times a week .
I also notice the only little piece of hair algae I had is now gone, the water is clearer and my skimmer is pulling mud. Overall I am very pleased and shocked and would recomend it.
Ill get some pics up soon of the tank

I estimated low at 50 gal . I started with 1.5 ml for the first four days . I then went to 2.5 ml for next 3 days and now i am at 3 ml . I will raise by .5 ml until i see a negative effect and then back down .I manually dose but try to spread it out over time. . Most dosers will not dose this lowso you would have to add water to dilute your solution so you can dose a larger amount . This raises a chance of bacteria growing in the solution . I do try to spread it out so i get as little of a ph drop as possible. I premixed the vodka and vinegar in a two cup batch ,this jst makes it easier for me . Heres a good read on it....

Qwik,
I have been dosing vinegar also for a little while now. I started with just vinegar because of the cyano issues with Vodka. When I hit 10ml of vinegar I started to get some cyano. I was able to remove most of it manually and started the peroxide dose of 10ml as well. I dose daily and manually. I have no SPS so the peroxide has no affect on fish or corals. As you stated the skimmer is pulling nasty brown stuff out regularly. Once the cyano is gone I will stop the peroxide dosing. I have a thread with my progress here; no pics just testing numbers.

I have been watching your post and am glad it is working for you . You might now be getting the cyano because you are past the 0 n point and are actually starting to feed the cyano . I also dosed peroxide and can not believe others woth issues do not use it,it works ! There is a thread on one of the nano forums about peroxide. The people who post remove the rock with hair alga on it and spot drip peroxide on it. The algae is white and dying within 24 hr. Funny thing is in all the cases th clean up crews prefer he " peroxide cooked" algae, lol. There are before and after pics on the thread that show the effects. Those who can not remove the rocks dose with similar effects aftr a longer time.
Here is a link to peroxide
