Water Test Result

Tested my water last night and this is what i got can anyone add to this.

Nitrate: 40ppm
Nitriate: 0ppm
Ammonia: 0ppm
Phosphate: 2.0ppm
Calcium: 460ppm
KH: 196.9ppm
Alkalinity: 1.7-2.8
MG- was unable to test real tricky
PH: 8.2

Is KH the same as alkalinity they both have different readings.

Your Mg is probably low and depending on if you are 2.8 or 1.7 might be a bit low. Overall not terrible! Just bring down that NO3 and PO4 and you'll be in good shape.

Thats what the test kit that i have gave me that range it was normal 1.7-2.8 not an exact number. I also tested KH is that also know to be the alkalinity.

KH is Alkalinity.

Your first number is meq/l (milliequivalents per liter) while your second one is the German equivalence (Degree Karbonate Hardness).  To convert meq/l to KH (or dKH), multiply meq by 2.8.  I don’t know why you reported it as ppm??

I think most like to see their dKH between 7 – 10.

EDIT TO ADD: Just found this site that converts alkalinity between meq, ppm and dHK:

The low alkalinity makes sense with high calcium levels. What do you use to supplement the tank for calcium and alkalinity?

Is it a reef tank? What is in it? You need to add calcium and alkalinity to your tank be it a two part solution, or a calcium reactor, or kalkwasser.
