What are you feefing your fish?

I'm about to order some more food for my fish and just wondering what is everybody else using. I've been feeding my fish Ocean Nutrition formula two flakes, seaweed select and San Francisco Bay frozen products, I would like to know if there is anything that you guys are using to keep your fish healthier or if I should change what I'm feeding my fish.

Thanks in advance.

I feed my fish a variety of foods. Flakes: Formula One and Two. Frozen: Mysis and Cyclopeez. Fresh: I tried the Fish Roe that they sell in the Sushi place, the fish went nuts and the corals too.

I feed my fish a blend of frozen foods that a few of us got together and made. We ended up with 4-5 flats each and it cost us around $20. My tank goes nuts when I feed it and since it also contains algae in it, every kind of fish including inverts and coral can consume the food.

rods food available at aquatic obsessions is the best i've ever used.... it replaced the 8 or 10 different types of frozen food i used to use, and costs less, and has more different stuff in it than you could imagine..... i recommend anyone to try it, it's fantastic....

I my fish tried Rod's food. They seem to like it. I have been planning on ordering a couple of bottles.

Any chance you guys have the recipe?

Here's my recipe that I have used with great success in the past years, but have since added frozen spinach, and sheets of lightly dry-chopped/shredded nori since now, I do have a blender :)

taken from here:

Feeding:

I feed the fish a mixture of Mysis shrimp, grated shrimp, clam and garlic, Ocean Nutrition Formula A, Formula B and bloodworms. Preparation involves defrosting a pack (or two) each of Formula A, B, Mysis and bloodworms and then mixing them with the grated garlic, clam and shrimp. I find that grating the shrimp, clam and garlic provides a better "texture" that my fish love, rather than the "mush" associated with using a blender (plus I don't have one). I leave this concoction in a sieve for at least an hour or two in the refrigerator. I do this to get rid of excess moisture in the food, and doing so provides a more "potent" rather than diluted mix. I feed the fish via a "feeding tube" to further reduce excess waste, and to target feed anything that needs it.

I highly recommend New Life Spectrum foods. We get a lot of positive feedback on www.wetwebmedia.com on this food
Watch the video, is Pablo Tapoot's personal tank. Pretty impressive 1800 gallon tank eh?

I still don't recommend keeping Moorish Idols ;)

Sera puts a lot of research into their foods. Though I have never used it personally as I'm not currently keeping a tank. I would try the Granumarin.

I also have heard good things about Rods food.

Scott Fellman recommends Piscine Energetics Frozen Mysis, but any brand will do, I recommend soaking your mysis in Selcon.

Hope that helps,

Michelle

Whole shrimp, squid, small piece of each multiple types of fish(whatever is readily available and not too pricey), scallops, clams, silversides, frozen mysid shrimp, nori(or other vegetable equivalent), cyclop-eeze, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and Selcon. Blended but not liquified and frozen flat in ziploc bags. Obviously a short trip to the supermarket will yield most of the ingredients, buy small amounts it goes a long way.

Quantities of each will vary depending on how many corals vs. carnivores vs. herbivores vs. omnivores. I blend the meats, drain the juice, add the plankton, cyclop-eeze and Selcon then freeze, the liquids make it easier to break off pieces.
