I waited too long to edit my OP so please consider this my edit - only looking for a 9.5:
I'm looking to buy a Mag 9.5 (B - with the stainless hardware) to run a skimmer I borrowed to "try" it on my system. The skimmer's an aqua c 180 so I could also use an otherwsie adequate pump for that skimmer - which will be in sump
I did some reading ant it seems that a 12 would be overkill and just draw more power only to be dialed down with a gate valve so I think I will keep my search to a 9.5
