yet another threat to our hobby

The problem with this bill is that no one in their right mind will want the job at customs to say "this is an endangered acro" vs this is just a. valida- a frag that all of njrc has grown in-house for decades. It's not like we're saying Pandas are endangered and someone brings in a black and white dog and the inspector says- that looks like a panda. Acropora isn't an easily identifiable coral.

Euphyllia is listed. Are we seriously saying customs is going to tell us that frogspawn/hammers from euphyllia are ok - but that branching hammer is not? Like they could tell the diff?

List of corals:

Re: yet another threat to our hobby/April 12 deadline

Good points Phil.

I agree that there has to be better way to manage this and we should join petitions to place on hold on this. Hopefully this is making it's way around to the experts like to help testify for the good being done. Do we have connections through past speaking engagements that could be leveraged?

I acknowledge I have not been as actively involved as I feel I should, but would think shutting down ANY type of trade will threaten efforts and resources going toward environmental causes relating to reefs and water quality.

I don't to start a political debate of any sort, but we've seen clear trends that our government has most often made the environment a bottom of the barrel issue over the last 10 years. I am not so sure about investment under Obama as of late though. It seems so easy to slap a bill over everything and hope that the issue 'goes away'

Does anyone have any links to where a letter or petition could be joined?

Thanks
