K this isn't exactly an emergency but I'd like an immediate answer if possible.

the arrow on the top is the set indicator right? I had it set to 78° and all of a sudden my tank is 83° and the heater is still on! I turned it off completely for now but is this heater bad or am I just reading it wrong?

I believe the blue arrow changes the heat, the red arrow moves without changing the heat so you can match what your thermometer says

The blue circle spins around and the arrow stays in place but what I'm asking is. Where the arrow is pointing, shouldn't that be the temp?

I am so confused by this heater its not even funny. The instructions don't tell you anything but how to read in 10 different languages.

The Jagger's can be calibrated which means you can move the temp dial to match a know benchmark. I never look at the temp markings when using a new heater. They are almost never accurate. I wait for the temperature to rise to what I want then turn the heater dial enough to shut it down. By doing this I can always get the temp to where I want.

I don't understand it at all tho. I just turned the blue dial down to 73 and it finally turned off... How in the world can my tank be reading 81° and my heater doesn't turn off?!?!?!

Good video but I'm still lost. To calibrate it, the red dial only turns 4 clicks and my temp is off by over 5° so I can't calibrate to what its supposed to be

Also I would bet that the thermometer is wrong as well. This thin plastic ones are all over the place. I would pick a solid glass or a well known digital thermometer.

I just found another thermometer so I put that in there too. Gonna c what that one reads. It is an old one so I won't be surprised if its bad.

I had the same exact issue! Mine is the same exact kind and I was getting readings from my aqua controller jr saying that the temp was 83°! I put the red arrow on the heater at 71° and the temp was 78° and even now it's still inconsistent. I'm just going to get a completely different heater that works well because I have had a terrible experience with this one.

The red arrow does NOT change the temperature, it is used to calibrate once the temp is known. Most people just don't understand how to calibrate the heater

I have had a few jagers stick on, but I use them in conjunction with my apex and all is well. I would highly recommend picking up a controller.

Not to hijack the discussion but the recommendation for a controller is a solid one. Don't get hung up on the idea that the controller has to be the latest and greatest with all the bells and whistles. It's function is to monitor and be a fail safe in the event the heater gets stuck in the on position. At the very least it should turn off power to the heater and provide you with an audible/visual alert. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
