Sponges

I have dual in tank sumps in my 75g, cheato in the middle chamber on one end and a small skimmer in the other, both have identical return pumps, Noticed recently the the return on one end was almost running dry, even with additional topoffs. took a look ( not easy- much stuff stored in the corner it's in)- the chambers were full of sponge- the one that looks like roots/ tree branches. I knew there was some in there, never thought much about it, being a filter feeder and all. After siphoning out what ended up being a handful- flow was back to normal- guess I have to add that to the list of regular maintenance

I've never had those, but my son had a bunch in his tank. I'm getting some on my rocks that look like velvet.

Not familiar with that type, but I like sponges- when I first saw pineapple sponges along with spirorbid worms in my sump I knew I was doing something right. The 'roots' came later, but still weren't a problem at first. They were only in the sump, then I found them on rocks in the DT- still ok( not desirable), but then it overtook some rocks and started to smother some zoas and palys- long story short- they are no longer a problem in the DT- got rid of them
