I purchased one on Sunday & put it in my QT tank. He was eating fine & i come home today & he's dead. No visible signs of infection can a QT tank un-cycle itself? Showing no ammonia and 8ppm nitrates. Last time I had a fish in here was a month or so ago. I did 2 water changes on sat/sun before purchasing the fish

That sucks. Sorry for the loss. Yeah, fish does appear fine otherwise. I guess you’re not using copper or anything?

I had a captive bred royal gramma die recently in a QT tank - still don’t know why. I have the ammonia alert, which was fine, and I had some media from my DT that normally would convert any ammonia and nitrite. Salt concentration and temperature were also both fine.

I guess **** happens some times…

Unfortunately black caps are not an easy fish to keep,ive tried several with no luck and actually found the moorish idol I had easier.

Yeah, no, medications.
Have big pieces of PVC
Hang on back filter w/floss from my DT
Heater
Air stone
Midas blenny that was in there a few months ago did well.

Least that's why we have QT's.

Yeah, we didn't go into the store looking for one. Googling the fish while at the store looked like it would fit our tank nicely. Me and my wife gave it a nice burial lol
