What precautions, tips, or tricks does everyone have to help in times of potential power outages and extreme cold.

Air stone on battery backup, water movement. For extreme cold wrap the tank in a moving blanket and hope for the best.
Thought had my battery air pumps but must have left them at other house.

I have a coralvue hydros setup hooked up to a big battery. It'll run my return pumps and my dosers/ato ect. It wont run my heaters or lights and a few other things. I also have a cyberpower ups backup, but its mostly for surge protection.
Thunderstorm fried part of my hydros a few months back so I got the UPS

I am not snowed n but iced in. Plow pushed all snow / in front of driveway and impossible to shovel. I hope the HOA sends the backhoe over tomorrow.

Although there was lots of snow, it really didn't stick to trees, which really helped reduce the risk of downed trees.
I did spend all evening Friday and Saturday cleaning carburetors on a snowblower and a couple generators.
Sadly I broke one of the fuel valves removing the nub due to the extreme cold. Think it was 7 at the time it broke. So have replacements on the way, but hopefully wont need them.

They did the same here, I had to shovel around 3 feet yesterday and 3 feet today but today was a little more difficult. It took me like 40 minutes.

I learned that my generators battery is dead. Hopefully that's all that's wrong with it.

$200 buck later and driveway is cleared. Bobcat was tipping the ice was so heavy. The old house in Lakewood; streets are sheet of ice you cannot drive speaking to neighbors there.
Anyone getting stuff from me please message me before heading out as if the streets are bad may need to postpone pickup a few days.
