I actually bought something similar for my Red Sea desktop, now I just use small pieces of filter floss and its certainly easier.

I use cups and floss. This originated on r2r and I posted the link there too. Owner came on and few comments and answered questions. Claim is youbrinsevthis screen out no replacement needed and adding floss is opt.

$45 for one? lol no. I’m using poly fil in cups and not halfway through the 10lb box. I bought it at Walmart for $15 five years ago.
Same but bought my at a fabric store and have a bunch left. This has a 250micron mesh screen that fits around the cup not inside. You just rinse and replace it.

Respectfully, you have it backwards, it's the screen that's optional. Copied from the link;
"Simply Wrap the Filter Core with inexpensive filter floss and create filter sock-like performance without the hassle of washing dirty socks. When it clogs up, just toss the dirty floss and re-wrap it.

Increase the effectiveness of the NOSOK™ with the included nylon filter screen. The heavy duty, 255-micron nylon filter screen simply drops into the NOSOK™ filter cage . When it’s time to clean the screen, simply pull the screen out, it unrolls flat, and wash it under running water – it takes just a few second"

If this product only used a quick rinse screen I'd give it more consideration, though I think a $30 price would be more enticing.
Don't see how this is an improvement on cups + floss.
Same here. Looking at the pics and re reading the instructions it appears you have to pick a small bit of floss, manipulate it into a what would be a thin sheet and wrap the cup. Then try and stuff it in without disturbing the floss and causing openings. Using the screen at least guarantees complete coverage.

These are a novelty. A kinda pricy one at that. Mesh socks already exist, and are much easier to use than this item. I have a pair (which anyone here is welcome to, free). While much easier to rinse out than socks using cups/floss is still even faster and easier. My .02$

That was questioned on r2r and reply was floss is optional in center. So the screen wraps around the cup leaving a hole in the middle. The hole concerns me as how much crap it doesn't catch. I do find it easy to just toss floss from my cup and replace. Will see what others say.

I am still not fully understanding what problem this solves that a filter cup with floss is not solving.

The only thing it solves to me is no more floss or whatever. Just rinse the screen and place back in the cup.
