Just started dosing Lanthanum Chloride

Been dealing with high phosphates and finally decided to dose Lanthanum Chloride. I have heard alot of good stories with it. Gonna start out very slow. 1.6 ml dosed via doser over a 12 hour period. See what it does in a week. My current phosphate levels are .31. Ouch. Wish me luck

If I can make a recommendation, at least what worked for me, dose it right into the skimmer. That way any precipitation should be instantly skimmed out.

Ok I was looking into that, but didn’t know where to put it in skimmer I have it in sock chamber where the skimmer is. Do I run line underneath skimmer? Or drill a hole in body of skimmer?

Noooo please don’t drill anything.

I had mine also on a doser. I ran a line through one of the air holes in the cup, down into the cup, then up into the neck and down into the body. LC was dosed right into the skimmer body where the water / air exchange happens.

It’s only been 5 days and my phosphate levels have already dropped to .18. I am only dosing 1.6 ml a day broken up into 12 parts. Not sure why I didn’t try this sooner. Cheaper than GFO and once I get to where I am happy I will probably just scale back the dosing

Be aware if you have tangs there’s a lot of people saying it’s deadly to them. I was aware of this and was only doing 1ml/d into my floss and I lost my sailfin. It seemed fine for a couple of weeks then overnight dead. I’ll stick to diy NoPox.

I dosed for months into the skimmer, 5 tangs in the tank, all were fine.

I also dose Diy Nopox, thats for nitrates not phosphates.
Watched a video Melevs reef he dosed lanthanum directly into tank with no ill effects. I’m not doing that though I dose in sump very little amount

I dosed for months into the skimmer, 5 tangs in the tank, all were fine.

I'd read that's the preferred method for using it, but I don't run a skimmer. Dripping into the sock/floss was supposed to be the next best option.

I also dose Diy Nopox, thats for nitrates not phosphates.

Respectfully, nopox is for both, it's right in the name.

Well if it does it’s not doing anything for mine. It def lowered my nitrates and holds them at 5, but did nothing for my phosphates.
