I said I wouldn't do it, and then I did. I went to my LFS to get a couple new fish for my QT. I was thinking reef-safe, did my research and talked extensively to the guy at the store. I ended up with a firefish and a yellow watchman goby. The problem is, I also walked away with a male Melanurus Wrasse. It's beautiful, and I just couldn't stop going back to the tank to look at it. The guy said it was reef safe, but failed to mention that it will go after my featherdusters and ornamental shrimp. Honestly, that's on me. I should have done the research, but we all know how it goes...you've got the kid in tow, and they are antsy to pick out the fish and get moving. I succumbed and walked away with the Melanurus Wrasse. Lesson learned. Upon getting home, I learned of my HUGE mistake...the Melanurus will go after my featherdusters and ornamental shrimp.
He is currently thriving in my QT and extremely active, but I am now at a crossroads...how should I proceed? I'm on week 4 of QT. I don't want to put him in my display because we're attached to those featherdusters and shrimp. Can I sell him, rehome him, what do you suggest?
I've learned from my mistake, lack of research, and simply put, going against what I said I would not do. Any suggestions for the rehoming/selling of this fish would be great and much appreciated. I'm in South Jersey, if that helps.
