    Kalk

I use this: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage~PageAlias~dosing_pumps_top_off_aqua_medic_SP_3000_sp3000_niveaumat_reef_doser.html The pump and the bucket stay in the basement and 1/4" airline tube runs through the wall to the tank. A digital light timer from HD turns it on for 10...

    Hows my Aquascaping

I agree, can't get much more subjective than this topic. I like it, but you will tear it down and redo eventually, we all have. I'm not sure how you constructed the rockwork, is there any epoxy holding the rock in place? Water flow on growing corals can make even large rocks tumble.

What are you feefing your fish?

Whole shrimp, squid, small piece of each multiple types of fish(whatever is readily available and not too pricey), scallops, clams, silversides, frozen mysid shrimp, nori(or other vegetable equivalent), cyclop-eeze, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and Selcon. Blended but not liquified and frozen...

    Absolutely Fish: Absolutely the nicest!

With the chance that Pat reads this forum, I'll lend some comments and call them constructive criticisms... I love the store and have recommended it more often than not, but don't feel comfortable asking them any questions whatsoever. I've purchased 4 fish and 1 piece of coral totaling more than...

    Absolutely Fish: Absolutely the nicest!

OK I'll bite, Jonathan why can't you go?? And for my opinion... It's the only store in North NJ with a reasonable selection, but can be a bit pricey. I have no complaints about anything I bought there including 2 very expensive fish, a dracula goby($140) and a blue dot jawfish($150). I will...

Help me choose my Tank Lighting Color

I think everyone is going to vote for option 1, but it may be a little deceiving if your white balance or exposure is off. The brightness of our screen can also play a role in the decision. I have a funny feeling the colors really "pop" more in option 2 in real life so that's my vote.

    flow rates?

In my 65 gallon I have a Seiio 620, 2-Maxi-jet 900's and 1-Maxi-jet 600 plus the return pump and I wouldn't mind a little more flow. I have a mix of SPS, LPS, a couple of softies,2 BTA's and a pair of clowns. Rob

    Tank crisis!

Jason, wish I read this sooner... I work right by Giants Stadium and travel to and from NYC 3 or 4 times a week, I could have easily stopped by with my refractometer. Do you have an update for us??? And have you picked up a refractometer yet? Any smart betting man would put big money on the...

Good HQI manufactuers for 12-14K color temp.

I replaced my generic 250W - 10K bulbs with Ushio 10K's and learned how subjective this discussion really is. I think the Ushio's are a bit white for my taste, but was able to fix that with using 2- 96W 420-460K PC's. The only problem is the tank is very blue during dawn and dusk. On the other...

    Low Alk

TR, I guess I was a bit ambiguous. I left out the words baking soda. Mix 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of water and add to a high flow area. Once a day for 3 or 4 days should do the trick. Good luck.

    Low Alk

TR, my alk dips from time to time. Since I switched to Crystal Seas I've had less issues with water chemistry, when I used IO I had all kinds of problems. Now I just mix about 1/8-1/4 teaspoon in a cup of water and slowly pour into a high flow part of the tank. It's worked well, but if I miss a...

    berghia nudibranch

Ha, a perfect example of why not to post after entertaining a client to a liquid lunch turned into happy hour. The group buy had lettuce nudibranchs, not berghia. Sorry :-[

    berghia nudibranch

I'm probably a day late, but you should have checked the group buy this month. I think they were $5.

    Low pH is killing me

I may be a little late on this, and it may not be the best solution to your problem as it sounds like you have central AC, but for those with window units, now would be time to pick-up a new unit at HD. The new ones are cheap(right now) and some have a vent on them that allows exterior air to be...
