Low Alk

Ok.. My Alk is Low: 0-1.6 (is that bad?)
PH: 8.0- 8.1
SG: 1.021- 1.022
Temp 80
Nitrate: 0.05- 0
These are the only test kits I currently have..
Only recent change is new brand of salt and doubled up on the macro algae....
Switched to Coralife which has Calcium :390- 410 ppm & Magnesium: 1250- 1300 ppm
My old level of alk used to be 1.7- 2.8
Is there any way to get it back to the level it used to be or is is fine where it is...
Just have never seen it that low...
Or should I just let nature do it's thing???

TR, my alk dips from time to time. Since I switched to Crystal Seas I've had less issues with water chemistry, when I used IO I had all kinds of problems. Now I just mix about 1/8-1/4 teaspoon in a cup of water and slowly pour into a high flow part of the tank. It's worked well, but if I miss a water change the ph tends to drift up. As you saw, I'm hovering around 8.5-8.6 right now.

I think I'm gonna give it a couple days and just monitor it....
And just let the system level out a bit...
Cuz I have done two water changes with the new salt in the past week and 1/2...

Just have never seen it that low.... And was a little concerned...

TR, I guess I was a bit ambiguous. I left out the words baking soda. Mix 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of water and add to a high flow area. Once a day for 3 or 4 days should do the trick.

Good luck.
