Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I'm going to assume you have forced hot water heat (although it could also be steam, but not very popular in houses today.) Just as long as you're not blocking the bleeder or balancing valve, you'll be fine. FYI, bleeders and valves are at opposite ends of the baseboard runs.
Don't necessarily need a Gryphon bandsaw. Could use a bone cutter to nibble the dead parts away or a rotary tool (Dremel) with a diamond blade. I have both but probably too far away for you.
Wow, Phil is still kicking! Welcome Phil. Anyway, before you go and start taking apart fittings, I'd run a snake up your pipes. I was shocked to see the vermetid snails and other hard creatures that were in my 1 1/2 overflow plumbing....after about 12 years:
Believe it or not, that...
Too early to say, but I'd be happy with equal quality. I purchased two Jebao's last October/November and they have run flawlessly thus far. This was before the Trump tax and I could buy three Jebao wetsides for the price of one Ecotech wetside and have money left over. I haven't looked at...
You have the luck of the Irish.....8 years with the same wetside! I have quite a few vortechs.....I think eight MP40's (only five being used now).....and I think four or five MP10's. I have but one original MP40 dryside, and that's because it's rarely used. I've had one wetside that only...
I can't vouch for the MP10, but I've started to replace my MP40 wetsides with the Jebao DMP40 wetsides....fits and works perfectly. As far as I'm concerned, the wetsides from Ecotech are poorly designed and constructed.
They are HERE....between your post above and just tonight on ABC 7 news with their report on yellow jacket wasps.....I find a nest just above the door to my pool shed. I've been walking in and out of that door all summer and never noticed it until yesterday. They are boldface hornets, not as...
A number of years ago I went with Bob @radiata to Sandy Hook to collect some algae he was looking for....I think to feed his fish. He was very specific, and hopefully he'll stop in and tell you what it was.
I do a DIY version.....because it's simply Calcium Carbonate. HERE is where I got my last order from. I do it after every water change (twice a month), after lights go out.
My corals grow like weeds. I used to take them to ACC to get store credit. I can't tell you the last time I paid cash for fish. I'd simply use the store credit. With ACC closed, where do you guys take your excess corals? What's a good LFS?
Looks like you have a combo of cyano, algae and diatoms. Can’t help with the walls, but here’s what I do about my sand.
My tank goes through periods of when typically cyano shows up. Probably from my laziness of water changes, lack or reduced clean up crew, or who knows what. What I’ve...
BUMP. Someone needs to buy this fish! If I didn't already have two, I would have scooped this up immediately. It's one of my wife's favorite, with it's little fins that flutter around. Don't ask me why, but she calls them pony boys. And forget about aiptasia....they'll be gone.
When I first turn the skimmer on (with the air valve fully open), I turn the knob to the valve so that this newly created foam is at the bottom of the collection cup. In this picture, that's between the level of the lower (smaller) white ring and the bottom of the cup.
I'll then let it run...
