    Mesh tops

    If you can find the black mesh it looks a lot better on the tank than the clear. Places that carry lots of pond stuff usually have it or can get it.

    Reef Octopus gate valve question

    You need unrestricted flow out of the gate valve to allow the skimmer to function properly. If its underwater, the outflow rate changes and will drastically reduce the skimmer's function. Def raise it up.

    Pruning for growth

    I do this all the time to get my acros to start growing again or get them to branch at a certain point. Have been doing it for years and it definitely works. Seems to work on acros more than other corals.
