Flat green algae in a reef tank, often film algae or Green Hair Algae (GHA), indicates excess nutrients (phosphates, nitrates) from overfeeding or poor nutrient export
Definitely have sky high phosphates but they're undetectable due to the GHA sucking it all up. I feed one cube of frozen food a day !! I have a fuge that's finally growing fast again. Just can't keep snails / hare alive long enough to eat the damn Gha

Also research DIY NoPox.
( Vodka, RODI, and vinegar) I’ve been doing that for years with no ill effects and my nitrates stay around 5. Cheap and easy, but you need to follow the chart and take it slow or it can bottom out your tank and case problems. As long as you follow the chart you’re good. Def easier to do with a doser.Heres the NoPox chart if you can see it. I’m sure you can find online if you choose to go this route

Once I get the GHA cleaned I'll probably make a diy and dose in a brs 1.1 but I gotta get rid of it first... This one has me at witts end

Amazing how direct application of peroxide works. Do a little at a time and give a few days between. GHA has taken my tank over and I just cleared off half a rock with about 5 mL. I read keep it low quantities though because it not reef friendly. Wavemakers off, slow gentle application to the algae itself. Was peeling off the rock 20 minutes later. Will do a different area Friday

Also realize I need to change out my RO/DI filters….its been a minute since I’ve done that.

Recommended dosage to start is 1ml per 10g. The GHA should turn white and come off easy.

I too continue to be at wits end with gha and now latest a fluorescent green/red flat algae on sand which comes up with turnkey bastet but back every am. I used reeflux rx on the gha 3x and almost eliminated after a near year battle since tank start in January 25’ trying blenny’s, angels, cup’s of mass, sea hare, urchins, pods, etc. I think it killed my cleaner shrimp, emeralds and lost of snails??? Made progress on it, hand combat and reeflux Went on a vacation over holiday and let it ride, bad move. Lost my midas blenny and gha making its way back, not as bad but back again. Turbo snails and urchins either live great and look good or die after days to weeks. It’s weird. I just dropped another reeflux dose tonight, will see in 2 weeks.hope your battles ends soon, keep us posted, seems like we battling similar issues.

Decided to check the life of my uv quartz sleeve and bulb, clearly it needed to be replaced.

Hopefully this helps

I have some GHA growing currently. Tank is about a year old now.. tech 1yr 1/2.. but a year since I upgraded.
I've been through flatworms with brown sand. Cyano. More brown sand and bubble algae.

Now the sand is almost cleared up but I got some GHA and still some bubble algae. Picked up some more turbo snails but mine dont seem to last and my urchin likes to munch. Looks like my tank is just going through stages lol
I started dosing coral snow it literally seemed to fix a lot of things. I also think since I have an auto doser now for kH the stability is helping as well

I agree with Kevin, if it's cracked, dump it. But for the future if the new one gets gunked up also, muriatic acid dip will do the trick nicely.

Yeah, noted for the future. The quartz tube came with it when I bought it used, so it probably needed to be replaced.

Yesterday I found my MP40 dry side on the floor it must have randomly fell off... Now I feel like that's ommiting large humming into water. I am really losing the battle with this tank.
