Flat green algae in a reef tank, often film algae or Green Hair Algae (GHA), indicates excess nutrients (phosphates, nitrates) from overfeeding or poor nutrient export
Definitely have sky high phosphates but they're undetectable due to the GHA sucking it all up. I feed one cube of frozen food a day !! I have a fuge that's finally growing fast again. Just can't keep snails / hare alive long enough to eat the damn GhaFlat green algae in a reef tank, often film algae or Green Hair Algae (GHA), indicates excess nutrients (phosphates, nitrates) from overfeeding or poor nutrient export
Recommended dosage to start is 1ml per 10g. The GHA should turn white and come off easy.Amazing how direct application of peroxide works. Do a little at a time and give a few days between. GHA has taken my tank over and I just cleared off half a rock with about 5 mL. I read keep it low quantities though because it not reef friendly. Wavemakers off, slow gentle application to the algae itself. Was peeling off the rock 20 minutes later. Will do a different area Friday
Also realize I need to change out my RO/DI filters….its been a minute since I’ve done that.
