Haliquin Shrimp. The only problem, from what i hear, is that even with a bunch of them the shrimp could still die of starvation. Like john said you might have to still feed him other star fish every once in a while.
I don't see them being a problem... until they over run the tank. I have a few of them in mine. I feed them to my RBTA when I start to see more of them. I'm just trying to keep them from over populating the tank.
I'm not sure if that's the answer but I would look into that a little more closely.
As far as doing the water changes and running carbon that might be it for now. Good luck and keep us posted.
Wow, so sorry Aaron. Anything I've ever gotten from you is here for you when it grows out.
What's the tank temperature? Check your probes to make sure they're working.
Wow. Really great read.
I would love to do it but I don't have the disapline to do the job that needs to be done.
If anyone trys it please document it well.
Great set up..
I love these little tanks. It makes want to do one but I feel like after a month it'll have a MetalHalide and SPS in it.
Can't wait for the updates.
Nice pics.
Give the skimmer 24 hours like the instructions say. I've never used that particular skimmer but i'm sure if you followed the directions you're good to go.
To start cycle you can throw some fish food in there. Not alot just something that will breakdown and give bacteria something...
If it's less blue than I'll give it a try. Thanks for the offer on the bulb but I'm doing it on the 48" fixture.
I'll try 2 54w ATI blu+, and 2 54w UV Actinics. Along with the 2 250w 16K Icecap MH's.

Alot of us have cycled rock without a skimmer but if I had an extra skimmer when I was cycling rock I would have used it.
So yeah, go ahead and skim. It's not gonna hurt anything.
Goodluck.
Can't wait for the pics.
