    Great i've got cyano...

Hey guys, So some time last year i picked up a frag from a lfs and it had algae on the base which i figure wasn't going to be a problem. Well it turned out to be a problem and after finally id'ing it i found out it's cyano... Which would explain why days of no light didn't do a thing to it...

    Frag glue

Well it looks like IC Gel must be great :D I might have to get some of that. So i found some SuperGlue Gel that we had laying around I've heard other people use it for fragging But it also says not recommended for bonding parts which are subject to great shock or immersion in water... I assume...

    ATO advice

Well i finally got the ATO. I only got to play with it for a few minutes. I tested it in fw containers but it seems like it takes about 1.5" drop before it kicks in. Which is about an inch more then i was hoping. I tried to mod it by switching the sensor with an airline tube to the top half of a...

    ATO advice

Cool, I finally found some mods for it just incase it doesn't work in my surface skimmer i read that you can switch the sensor tube that goes into the water with a 1" PVC pipe and have it kick in within 1/4" but hopefully i don't need to mod it. Thanks for the help! Hopefully this works like a...

Thanks guys, Malulu; sounds good. now i gotta choose a pump. I am thinking an aqua lifter? i read that the head loss is 30" on each side so I'm thinking i should be fine since it's only got to pump it a little over 30" what do you think? If that works can i use a check valve made for air pumps...

    ATO advice

Alright i stuck a tube of airline in the surface skimmer and the water level adjusted just right. Even slid down and back up into the pvc pipe and it stayed at the water level. So i am going to give this a go. I just wonder since this doesn't have a fail safe could i run some kind of back up...

    ATO advice

Thanks if i had the money i would but I'd hate to spend so much if i can get close results with this one. Edit, Hmm i wonder if anyone's DIY'd a optical sensor? Although they seem kinda pricey.

    ATO advice

Hmm thats probably the best way for me to keep the most accurate water level huh? I haven't had any snails get inside it but i could probably make ether a mesh thing on the bottom of the sensor or around the whole top of the box. Do you think flow might be a problem though? I can post a picture...

    ATO advice

Hmm my uncle gave me an idea i though i would ask, Like I've stated before i don't have a sump and i understand it's hard to keep a stable water level with an ato in the tank. So he said why not stick it in your surface skimmer. Will that work? That's pretty much the only reason i want a stable...

Filter ideas for new 60 G.

I've never used a canister filter but i think a phosban/carbon reactor would work better in that area. If your limited to no sump i would suggest a skimmer from the octopus HOB line. They aren't to expensive, nicely built and work great. (At least in my experience)

    ATO advice

I though about that one from ATO.com but i though it would be a little big. I'm leaning towards the Tsunami but it sounds like it takes at least an inch of water before it kicks the pump on.. I think which ever ato i go with I'll pump it with an aqualifer, plus on a timer.

    ATO advice

Cool that was actually the one i was most interested in and hoping to get feedback on. I watched the video on their website and it seemed very simple and almost fail proof. Do you know how much the water fluctuates with them? On the video it seemed to take an inch or two before the pump would...

    ATO advice

Hey guys! I'm so glad for Christmas break but seems like all I've been doing is buying stuff for my tank. ::) So anyways i want to set up an ATO but i'm trying to figure out what set up to buy, I've seen a few nice ones in my price range but i can't decide which one. I was hoping you guys could...

please watch to save the hobby

I think people should be able to own any type of fish or animal they want as long as your experienced or know what your doing and are approved to own one. Maybe if they make you sign a contract or something, maybe more stuff idk, As long as your not an idiot who is getting a snake or lion fish...

Anyone work/volunteer at the Camden aquarium?

Sure will, I always wondered what the equipment looked like on those tanks. Since they have so many people sticking their dirty hands in the water. I got to check out behind the scene last year and i was surprised they used bio balls.

Anyone work/volunteer at the Camden aquarium?

Just about everything on their site requires you be 18 but i think i'm going to call them i'm sure they have something fish related that i can do :( Lol I'd just adopt the tanks you would work on there :D Yeah i've got a 55gal and an 760,000 gallon tank ;D
