Wow all these exciting hobbies. Unless I missed someone it looks like just John and I are golfers. Oh I like to fish too - maybe one of you divers could actually coax a frigging fish onto my hook once in a while.
Hadn't thought of the Tang's shape and grazing habits - makes perfect sense. Gonna have to give my Gold Rim some instructions to be careful!!
The vortech will be going on a 120 so hopefully that will work a little better than it did on a 30 gal. Thanks for the tip on making sure I remember to...
Wow I might have expeceted a slower moving fish but the Tang is surprising! Just ordered a 3 pack of the foam covers - not sure how much they will help but I guess its worth a shot.
I have a 45 gallon tank that I don't think I'll ever use. Just want to get it out of the basement so it free (of course I won't turn down a frag or two but it's not required ::)). I'll be home all weekend for pickup.
I picked up a vortech in the group buy. Its already made a few waves with my wife :o now I can't wait to see some in my tank!! I'd like to know if there is anything I should watch out for before I hook it up. Sand storms, fish getting sucked in, installation issues etc.. Love to hear from other...
Thanks Mott. I don't move the coras all that often so don't think thats the problem. My Dkh test only shows Low Normal and High colors and it is normal. I guess I'll go get a better test kit and I'll up the mag to the 1400 you recommend.

Well I've had corals in my tank for about 9 months now. I can keep them alive but I can't get most of them to grow very much. Here's the details on my system:
120g AGA Tank with 2 overflows
60g Fuge - In basement. Full of Chaeto and Calerupa
55g Sump - In basement - Reeflo Tarpon return pump...
Hey all. Had some personal issues that needed tending to so I haven't been around for a while. Things are getting better now so you'll be seeing me around a bit. Hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving.

Thanks Phil. Managed to get a couple of decent pics with my crappy camera. The snails are anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch long and I just noticed that at low tide they can live out of the water. Here are the pics.
I'm in Hilton Head on vacation. There are a bunch of snails that seem to live in a tidal area. They are attahced to some marine grass and seem to like to hang out right arot und the water line. Some are even on the grass that is out of the water. Their shells are mostly white and spiral shaped...
Thanks guys. The RO resivoir is in an unfinished part of the basement. I'm down there a lot an any floods roll toward the French Drain. Given that I think I'll go with the styrofoam method.
Went to dinner and came back to check if the valve shut off everything and it did. Valve up = no waste water flowing through the unit. Works like a charm.
Thanks to all who weighed in.

Somehow I feel like I should have been able to figure this one out myself.
I was tired of hooking my RO unit up to my slop sink everytime I needed to fill off my top off resivoir so I bought a Kent float valve in the PA group buy and put a saddle valve on a cold water pipe. As I look at...
Well it looks like things are going in the right direction - the water doesnt' smell anymore and the algae growth seems to have slowed down. Saw this in the current Reefkeeping Magazine http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-07/nftt/index.php. Pretty interesting theory that might apply to me...
