    toads, toads, and more toads!

You can set them free in your garden and chances are they will do quite fine. There are larger ones. Down near my shore house (Little Egg Harbor) they can almost reach plague like levels. Its quite an eye opener when there are 1000's of baby/adolescent/adult toads jumping across your...

recommendation corals for beginners of Nano 24g?

Depends on your lighting...but...as a general rule of thumb. Zoo's are cool and work under most lights. Shrooms are real nice too. Stay away from the frilly's like was said. Rics are gorgeous and a great choice in my opinion BUT can grow fast and split alot under the right conditions. Depending...

    DIY Fan Wiring?

The MH ballast will be remote mounted. I am pretty nifty with wiring. The only part that kinda confused me was the AC/DC converter. I didn't know one existed. I think i am going to: Splice in an AC/DC converter BEFORE the ballast on the 110/120V line. Then run the 12V DC wires up the line...

    DIY Fan Wiring?

I have some time to plan this out. I am really not overly concerned about having to plug in a 110V Ac fan SEPERATE from the MH. I would like to be able to wire it into the Metal Halide Circuit if possible but if not oh well. Worst case scenario, i would want two fans operating off ONE plug...

    DIY Fan Wiring?

Ok, i am looking to build a custom canopy to house 1x150w MH HQI and 2 x 65w Power Compacts. I am looking to add a nice cooling fan to each side of the canopy. I looked at the coralife ones but don't want a seperate 110-120v AC plug for them to run. anyone have any suggestions on what fan i...

    Lighting for a 29 gallon?

I am going to DIY the hood. I would probably make the lights 8" or so off the water.

    Lighting for a 29 gallon?

Well I am new to the whole MH thing period. Iwasaki is the only bulb that can be fired by either a MH or Mecury Vapor Ballast which is the ones used in the DIY. They don't make a 10k i believe.

    Lighting for a 29 gallon?

Actually, scratch that. Iwasaki doesn't make a 175w 6500k single ended MH bulb. Going to have to go either 150W or 250W. Would 250w be too much?

I am thinking about doing a DIY 175W MH Setup with a Iwasaki bulb plus the two PC's.

    Lighting for a 29 gallon?

Well right now i currently have a Coralife 2x65w PC hood. Which is fine just to set up the tank. I want to strip down the coralife hood, take the reflectors, ballasts, and PC holders and mount them in a homemade hood with a 150-175W MH retro. I am thinking about eventually keeping some...

    Lighting for a 29 gallon?

Do you think the MH plus the PC's would be overkill? I know then it would DEFINATELY be plenty of light, just want to make sure its not too much. I run my A/C in the room during the summer and in the winter i keep the house cool. I don't think heat would be an issue.

    Lighting for a 29 gallon?

I am in the process of setting up a 29g reef. Right now i have 2x65w PC. I wanted to know everyone's thoughts on adding a MH to the setup. My goal is to eventually disassemble the PC fixture. Salvage the ballasts and caps. Purchase two new reflectors. Add to a DIY wooden canopy with a MH. do...
