I haven't really updated in a while. But I have added some new pieces to my tank.
A couple weeks ago I added a peppermint shrimp and my trio of Anthias kept going by it, I guess thinking that it was a cleaner shrimp. Finally they left it alone. Yesterday I added a pistol shrimp to the tank...
I have to agree.. I cannot see how the overflow is actually skimming the surface as an over flow should do. I guess that system is just a large AIO system.
To help with it for now, just get a powerhead aimed at the surface to agitate it, will cause that stuff to go into the water column and...
Is the tank running in that picture? I dont see the teeth from your overflow??? Should be able to see the bottom of the teeth from that pic???
You should never have any surface stuff at the overflow box?
Do I see a dual return on the left side of that picture? Put some loc line on that and...
Regarding Noise Ordinances, yes there are noise ordinances. But you do not have to be SILENT after 10pm. If it is merely a television then the police I am betting will not sign a complaint because it was too loud. I have gone on these types of calls many many times. If you call the cops you...
My daughter just saw these on the wet side of the MP10 in her tank (28g nano).
They were on the top side when it was mounted in the tank. They sorta glow orange in the tank, but you can see the color is not too bad since you can see the coraline on the wet side.
The stock in this tank is...
I also ordered from reef rocks.net. I have a 75 rimless and I used 100 lbs of rock. So for a 90 I don't think that 50 will be enough. Well that depends on the aquascape you are looking for

I am looking for a wet dry in Northern NJ. I am honestly not looking to spend a ton of cash on it. If you have something lying around let me know. I would like it to be complete with bio-balls.
Thanks!!
It is hard to level a tank that is on carpet :(.
Using shims will be very very difficult once you get water in the tank since the padding below will crush and push down the carpet..
You do not need to shim the entire side you are talking about, But just realize that when you shim up one side it may throw off the level in the other direction. So you will need to make sure that you check both directions each time you shim. Then you should shim it every foot I would say but...
Thanks! I like to catch stuff like this. When I try to explain to the "outsiders" that they are animals and live this is something that can convince them. :)
Get shims... They even sell the composite ones that will not get effected by water... Shim the corners first and get the tank level in both directions. then fill in around the stand with shims to make sure that you are not supporting by just the corners.
maybe stop feeding pellets totally and just your mix. Hopefully he will take to them. If you keep giving him pellets he will wait for them. If he is hungry enough i'm sure he will eat the other stuff... Give him one pellet or so to not "starve" him and then supplement with other foods.
DSB in the sump, and you dont need rubble IMO in the sump. I assume you will have chaeto or other macro, the pods will do fine in there.... and dont forget to through some sort of sponge into your sump or a bag of ceramic disks and just let them sit in there, so you can instant cycle a...
