    LED Lighting

I just picked up a Reef Tech LED. A lot of power and flexibility. Another unit to consider would be a Vertex, It almost puts out as much PAR as the Reef Tech. http://www.reeftechled.com/?page_id=505 Ken

    Skimmer and Controller comparison chart

Well if you really want a rant, how about a chart that is not 4 years old. Look at the what skimmers are talked about today, and you will see that none of them are on the list. The chart is from 2007. There isn't one cone skimmer on here either. Ken

    gotta get it all out

Actually I had started out with sand in both of my reef tanks as I did not like the look of bare bottom. However it is a fact that there will be less likelihood that that you will have problems in terms of algae and nitrate/phosphate buildup with bare bottom than sand or crushed coral. It is also easier to maintain. Of course you could take the time...

    Great i've got cyano...

I seriously doubt that this caused your problem. I think your cyno problem was around the corner anyway. If you didn't have the necessary factors in your tank to start, the cyno would not have taken off, and would have died off on that piece.Put some hair algae in a nutrient poor tank with tons...
