Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
No need to include your return pump in the configuration of the Aquacontroller. As you said it will be running all the time, no need to control it, just keep it plugged into a seperate outlet.
Re: NEW ARRIVALS: ORA SPS FRAGS (and ORA FISH)
WOW! I have been watching and reading this thread biting my tongue at every post. Talk of boycott, genetic mutations, inbreeding makes my head spin. For obvious reasons, I've been hesitant to jump in but can't hold myself back any longer. The...
OK so you found something they like to eat. That's a good start...still puzzled over why you have had such a hard time getting them to eat..usually ORA clowns will eat as soon as they are acclimated....crush up the ORA Glo pellets...if you'll notice they are a bit big for them. Crushing them up...
Hmmmm..not sure what the problem is here. We kept them for a couple of weeks until premilove got his tank ready. We fed them a combination of Rod's Food, brine/mysis as well as ORA-Glo.
The place is called Bowcraft. I've took my kids there for years without incident. It doesn't have the razzle dazzle of Great Adventure, but still offers an afternoon of fun at a fair price.
The best location should be one with easy access from major highways with plenty of parking. Other than that it's all about customer service, healthy livestock with variety, knowledgeable staff and competitive pricing. I don't think distance is as big of an issue as people make it out to be. We...
I was quite surprised after reading your post and your PM, not to mention also being a bit upset. The staff at Ocean Gallery enjoys and welcomes constructive criticism and you did have a couple of valid points which we are addressing. We have already ordered polo shirts for all employees so they...
I ran a 2.5 gal for a couple of years, using a 150w HID. Great choice of lighting, it was fully stocked with SPS, softies and LPS. That was a few years ago when HQI (DE) lamps weren't available yet so i was using an Iwasaki 150w 6500K. I don't see how you can go worng with the Sunpod.
I agree with Stan here, although that tank is not supposed to be tempered, making the hole larger can cause problems..much different than drilling a "virgin" tank. Glass could crack because of the narrow distance between the hole and the new cut. Drill the back out as Stan suggested and you...
It really depends on the price, if it's cheap, holds water and doesn't leak..with a little work you can turn it into a great tank. 30" is a PITA to work with when you need to get to the bottom....Light will also be an issue at the bottom. I'd definitely use the holes already drilled for the...
Well I've always been a metal halide kind of guy so removing MH's fro flourescents of any kind rubs me the wrong way, but, with the corals you are keeping, I don't think you'll be hurting except for 6" on each side which will be semi-dark (so to speak). But as you said, you can put mushrooms...
I agree with Mike, while flowrate is important, direction is just as important. One of the reasons multiple powerheads are used is to create a unidirectional flow rather than a laminar flow, eliminating 3 pumps to add one would defeat this purpose. To go a step farther than Mike suggested, dump...
Live rock is just that, live, it does need circulation while you are gone. Providing circulation will allow the rock itself to act as a filter, which is why we have live rock in our reefs in the first place. No circulation will cause die off on the rock and will present problems when you return...
Heya!! Some of you old timers may know who I am from my nick which was my business many years ago...for those of you who don't, I'm Brian Griffin. I've been involved in theis hobby for quite a few years, less more recently, but still in touch. I will be very active now and wanted to let you...
