    SEA TURD,LOL ;D I would let snails and crabs do all the maintenance. Sea turd are very good sand cleaners. I wouldn't get any stars cuz they all eat fish giving any opportunity. If you don't believe me, ask Ronnie, LOL 8hrs photo period should be good for now.

    Mushroom will be OK. They are hardy. Looks good. I would add more turbo snails and few hermit crabs.

    Test your water. If everything read zero, you should be ready to add inverts first. I personally don't think you are ready yet. Patients is a key to success. LOL

    mladencovic nailed it again. I wouldn't worry about your water being clody. you might of kicked up crap that was on top of the sandbed. You are going through diatom stage with brown film.

    I don't trust that swingarm hyrdometer. Make sure you tap it so that you don't have trapped air giving you false reading. Do about 10% waterchange with RODI water like killagoby says.

    What you really want is small PLC. Programmable logic controller. Only thing is COST, so relays are your best bet for your applications. I have some 120vac relays and base if you need them.
