    Keeping damsel

I have a 90 gallon FOWLER and today have numerous Damsels. Cycled initially with 6 Chromis (all killed eachother) replaced with another 6 and eventually went down to 1 and he since died. After cycling was completed and I started to add fish, I included 1 Yellow Belly, 1 Yellow Tail, 2 Allen's...

    My clowns spawned!

My 2 Oscillaris started spawning directly to the back glass in my tank for about 2 - 3 months now (same spot). Seems they haven't got it right yet as they eat the eggs before anything happens. After researching online on how to harvest and care for eggs for them to hatch, agree too much work...

    Lion Fish

I watched an episode of "SHARK TANK" the other night. The Lion Fish are living in the Gulf of Mexico around Florida (throughout the Carribean) and up the coast North as far as Maine. 2 guys were pitching an idea to catch them and sell them to restaurants to help decrease the population. No...

Light reccomendations for 90 gallon fowler

Thanks jgraz and Hockeynut for the advice and clarification...will check the legs prior to looking into Hockeynut's reccomendation. Would assume LED's are not required for a FOWLER correct? Those are geared more towards a reef right?

Light reccomendations for 90 gallon fowler

Currently have the Deep Blue Solar Extreme T5 - 48" Light and it is running a little over a year now. Problem I am having now with the 48" is when my "actinics only" come on the fixture makes a horrible humming sound. The actinics only are on from 7A to 8A and again 7P to 8P. I lift the...

    Water Changes

I have a 90 Gallon Fowlr and do 1 (maybe 2) top offs a week with FW (usually a little over 4 cups). As far as my 20 gallon water change...that is every 2 months. Seems to work for me.

    Natural Gas Generator

Stay away from the Generac Lowe's or the Home Depot sell. Highly suggest a "Kohler". Cooper Electric in Neptune did mine. Service contract is expensive... 2 visits a year, oil change and checkup in Spring and then another oil change, tune up and check up in Fall in and around $700.00 per year.

    Helping in affected areas???

I called the Red Cross as my wife and I felt we had to do something. The person who answered the phone asked if we were "Trained Red Cross Volunteers"? My reply was no... she stated we needed to be trained by the Red Cross on how to volunteer properly. My reply was "How do we get trained?"...

Do we have any golfers in the club?

Got my first hole-in-one on July 15th (Cranbury Golf Club) then blew my knee out July 16th (yes the fish tank had something to do with it). Fun times...surgery set for September 5th. Do not see much golf in my future this year. Hopefully the "1st Annual NJ Reefers Golf Outing" is set for...

External protein skimmer - 270 gallon - fowlr

Redfishblue...this is very creative on your part and makes a lot of sense! Looking over the various posts on this site (especially the one about useless stuff we buy that does not work) you may be onto something here.

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Live Corals scare me...always fascinated by the colors when I am in Tropiquarium but just can't pull the trigger on them. Heard horror stories of tanks being wiped out when they die. But do not know much about them hence the reason I am running a FOWLR tank.

External protein skimmer - 270 gallon - fowlr

I have a friend (no really...) who has right now a (submersible in refug) "Coralife Cone Skimmer" and is looking to replace it with an "Aqua EV-240 External with Mag Drive 12 Pump (AC240M)". His concern is if and when the current skimmer he has goes "haywire" it will pollute the refugium...
