Clown and Half Black Angel Killers

Firefish and a Lee's Damsel (long blue with yellow on fins)? Months ago, before I added the angel, the clown killed its partner and 2 green chromis. If anything, I may eliminate the clown. Its a big false percula with a mouth like a grouper. Do you think eliminating the aggressive clown will...

Clown and Half Black Angel Killers

Well, going on a year now with this new hobby and I can honestly say I have made small mistakes throughout the entire year. My clown seems to be the worst when it comes to territory. First one to rip anything to shreds. Do you think if I eliminate the clown, the angel will not have the urge to...

Clown and Half Black Angel Killers

30 gallon. I have 1 Clown and 1 Halfblack Angel and whenever I put in a new fish, the clown attacks first and then the Angel joins in, eventually ending in death (within 12 hours) for any new addition. What do I do? I want to add more fish but cannot. I was thinking about getting rid of the...

    Shrinking Xenia

I'll see what I can do about the temperature. I'll drop it a little.

    Shrinking Xenia

I changed the lighting to try and improve overall coral health. I went from a basic florescent to a compact florescent dual bulb, daylight and blue actinic. This really has not changed anything with the xenia. I was wishing it would but nope! No other changes.

    Shrinking Xenia

I have 2 kinds of xenia, 1 green star polyp, 1 leather finger coral, 8 colt corals, and 1 mushroom. All seem to be doing great but the xenia. For months my one xenia would fully open and the stalks were nice and plump. Now it seems most of the stalks on one of bunches is always looking shrunk...

    MICROBE LIFT ALL-IN-ONE REEF/MARINE SUPPLEMENT

I have a few patches of brown algae with bubbles on it still. I rub it off and it returns. I used my supplement for about a week and a half before I stopped. Now I am not putting anything in. Just doing normal RO water changes. I wonder if its just normal to have some extra growth. Maybe I'll...

    MICROBE LIFT ALL-IN-ONE REEF/MARINE SUPPLEMENT

HI, I was looking for an all in one coral supplement so I didn't have to buy 20 different bottles of stuff and I came across MICROBE LIFT's ALL-IN-ONE. I followed the directions for my tank (29 gallon / halved the dosage) 2-4 capfulls per 50 gallons, 1-2 times per week. After about a week and a...

    Best Pymy Angel

Great info, thanks! Is there any other kind of majestic fish (show piece) that you would suggest! I'm looking for a beautiful fish that has some size but can also live in a 30 gallon.

29 gallon FOWLR - 1 more fish - What should it be?

What about a wrasse? And, is there a place on-line where there is a list of low bioload fish?

29 gallon FOWLR - 1 more fish - What should it be?

I do small weekly water changes plus a large monthly water change. The Chromis I have are not territorial at all. I think I got lucky. They all get along and school together. The clowns even enjoy them. I'm taking notes and more suggestions are welcome. I like the dwarf/pygmy idea.

29 gallon FOWLR - 1 more fish - What should it be?

29 gallon FOWLR - 1 more fish - What should it be? I have about 20+ lbs of live rock, 4 small Blue/Green Chromis and 2 False Clowns. All are doing well. I am looking to add 1 more fish but it's got to be beginner friendly. This fish will be the centerpiece of the tank. Something nicely colored...

    Clowns are amazing..

I just picked up a pair. What's the best food for these guys? I got flakes and a freeze dried medley. They seem to want the flake (red only) but they are so slow to get it and the other fish devour it. Then I tried this freeze dried medley . It seems they only like the small dark bloodworms. I...

Help! Red Slime, feathery, fast multiplying algae!

Great news so far....reduced the lights! So far so good. I did not have lights on for about a week. I even wrapped a blanket around the tank for 2 days. Slowly putting light on and I am up to 4 hours per day with barely any red slime! Keeping fingers crossed. Thanks for the advice!

Help! Red Slime, feathery, fast multiplying algae!

Oh yeah, How long should my lights be on? I do not have any corals! But I do have some feathery growths on my live rock that I assume need light. And when this red slime clears, I will be adding probably 2 clowns and an anemone (need light). Should I just let the natural day/room light enter the...

Help! Red Slime, feathery, fast multiplying algae!

Ok, I will spread out the feedings. Yes, that's my filtration HOB and Live rock. It's a long story - My 1st floor is an open floor plan - all rooms combine. Noise is a big factor and I want close to a silent tank as I can. I had a skimmer, the continual humming and air suction noise drove me...

Help! Red Slime, feathery, fast multiplying algae!

Well, I have 4 small chromis that get fed 2 times per day, morning and night. A mix of flakes and freeze dried shrimp - a very small amount. I do weekly water changes plus a main water change once per month with R/O water which includes vacuuming the substrate. I have a HOB power filter and 2...

Help! Red Slime, feathery, fast multiplying algae!

Well, I have had the lights turned off for about 24 + hours and I wish my tank looked this clean all the time. There are some stragglers but the tank looks great! Now, when I turn my light on I guess it will all grow back, right? I'm going to keep them out for a few more days. Any further...
