OK, it all starts tonight!!! My buddy is coming over tomorrow to help with the swap. The 180 is almost ready. I removed the powerheads, cleaned out the stand and canopy. Tonight I will remove the lights and put them in the new canopy. The Tunzes need to come out. I need to do a final adjustment...
Canopy is getting there. Instead of reflectors, I'm going to wrap the inside with Mylar film. It's supposed to be 98% reflective. I'm also thinking of using it as a background for the tank, maybe it will add some more depth.

I have flatworms and redbugs. Both are under control but I would like to get rid of them altogether. I am upgrading to a larger tank and was thinking of dipping all my rock and coral in pro-coral cure during the transfer. Then treat for flatworms again with flatworm exit 2 weeks later. Is this...
Well, this is a great idea....I think but it is not very attractive! It might take a couple of layers because it is not that strong and if I have a heavy pile of rocks I'd be afraid it would break. I've also been thinking about using pieces of starboard as a base for rock pillars.
Your killing me!!!! Your corals look great. I'll be hitting you up for some when my new tank is stable! Here is a pic of that birds nest you gave me. I broke it so I have 2, they are bigger than a softball now!!
I've been trying to figure out what to put on the bottom so the rocks don't slide. I will not put in sand, the egg crate in my 180 collects too much detritis where I can't reach, and I don't like starboard. I have come up with something that may work. I will post a pic when it is in place.
I used West System Epoxy. I coated the wood before assembly. Predrilled, then applied 3M 5200 marine adhesive/sealant, then screwed together. I smoothed the excess inside the seams. Then mixed filler in with the epoxy and ran it in all the seams on top of the 5200. I used fiberglass mat and...
Changed sumps yesterday. Cleaned, broke and repaired skimmer. Barracuda is not hooked up yet and neither is the chiller or calcium reactor.
Now I'm working on getting all the plumbing together for the drains and returns. 1 1/2" drains, and the 1 1/2" return line will feed 3 1" returns in the...
Weight! This thing weighs less than my 180!!! A glass tank this size would way about 1000 lbs. I hate how easy acrylic scratches, but manuevering 1k lbs of glass scares me!!!
The tank will be on the main floor. There is a crawlspace underneath and garage is the access to the crawlspace. I keep the in the garage because the crawlspace is too tight.
I have about 125lbs of dry pukani rock, and about 100lbs mixed fiji and brazilian.
I'm in Ringwood...and I may be...

I would love to build it myself but that would require alot of practice on smaller tanks and basically re-inventing the wheel. I'd rather have a pro do it. If I could build it myself it would be glass, and built on the stand!! I was going to do a plywood tank but from the experience I have from...
