Matt, how long do your returns run for if the power goes out? I was only thinking to use them on the powerhead inside the tank just to keep the flow moving and the water surface rippling. Also if you like the way yours is can you post a link or a name of the brand, make, and model. Thanks.

It has something to do with the pumps having such a low wattage that the DC8 doesn't sense enough power being drawn to know to shut them off. I heard someone say if you put them on an extension cord that it would work but I did that to no avail.

My power went out today/this morning. It was a squirel in the transformer. PSE&G came right out and fixed it in only a couple hours, thankfully. If I had a larger system I would definitely look into a generator
