Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Don't forget mladencovic, we were both saying the same thing before I mentioned the external sump.
Hey BTW, while I'm thinking about it Nanoguy, if we stop in the store and want to say hello, who would we ask for? I'd feel stupid asking "Is Nanoguy here?" :)
More ideas: hmmm
Well how about...
Did you have the fan blowing across the water surface or directly at the water? You get the most cooling by blowing across the water and not directly at it.
By chance do you have a powerhead pointed slightly upward in the tank to cause some rippling at the surface? This helps a tremendous...
Any type of Calcium additive (anhydrous or not) will not lock up alkalinity. Calcium doesn't attract or otherwise lower alkalinity on it's own. It's a misunderstanding that confuses people since adding more calcium can have the effect of lowering alkalinity. <-- sounds confusing and almost like...
Not an riddle per say but fun anyway to do with someone who is decent at math. Many of you have heard it and propably know it. Great to teach your kids so they can have fun with friends. Goes like this.
1) Pick a number from 1 to 10 (could actually be any number) but don't say the number out...
Back in my home town the local bar owner used to have a friday night "Einstein Challenge" with vodka or gin martinis. The game went like this. He would pose a riddle similar to the above and give you one piece of paper and 5 minutes to solve it. If you got it right, you got the drink for free...
I'm going to say the German owns the fish.
Here's the breakdown on the houses:
1st house is yellow, owned by the Norwegian, drinks water, smokes Dunhill, has cats
2nd house is blue, owned by the Dane, drinks tea, smokes Blends, has a horse
3rd house is red, owned by the Brit, drinks milk...
ricwilli, do you have another Alkalinity test kit handy you could test with? Salifert is having all kinds of problems with their Alk and Ca test kits right now. The last 6 of 7 kits I've tested are wrong by a large margin. The Alk kits I've compared to have been off 3-5 dKH on the high side...
I hear you on the temps running colder. I've actually been thinking of letting my tanks run a couple degrees colder (and I'm a fan of warmer temps) simply because of the cost of heating. I've got over 2K watts of heaters running during the summer. I do have my Neptune controller setup to run my...
You don't "have to" calibrate it that often. It's just easy to do is all. I myself haven't had to calibrate mine in 3 months. I occasionally dip it and check the reference solution just to verify it's accurate.
Honestly Phil I don't think either the salinity meter or a refractometer is harder...
I get what you're saying but still feel the proper answer is 4 not 2. Suppose you purchased a car today for $20K. 3 years from now you owe me $10K and I agree to take the car. The car is worth $10K not $20K. So what I'm saying is the penknife was purchased originally for $8 but it's value is now...
That's a good thing. Just keep in mind you could still loose him but each day he should have less and less parasites on him. BTW, the parasites tend to fall off during the night (lights out) so getting a good look at him in the morning is probably the best way to judge how many parasite are left...
Yea but we didn't make a mistake. It all depends on how you want to value the original value of the knife which was never part of the equation. The knife could have been worth 8 rupples originally before the "split". :)
If I read the question right I'd still say the answer is 4. Here's why:
Let's say there was 14 total sheep. When sold each sheep receives 14 rupples (same as total number of sheep). So that's 196 total rupples. The oldest brother takes 100 rupples and the younger brother gets 96 rupples. There...
I'm a two-time member of that club John. First time was about 25 years ago and luckily on a fresh water tank where the fish-fry didn't cost to much to replace.
Second time was right around Easter time this past year on my reef tank. Luckily I had the Shock Buster devices hooked up on my lights...
Great attitude nonoguy!
Does what we said make sense to you? I missed the fish list so I'm assuming that was in another thread somewhere. What fish do you plan on adding to the tank?
Curious, since it's a 20L tank. Have you thought of using an overflow with a sump tank underneath (could be a...
Sweat on the lake property!
John you were lucky the canopy got caught on the tank and didn't fall inside. Otherwise you could have joined my club. :)
Carlo
"lfwis (local fish with ich store)"
Man that's funny!
Can't really see the ich in the pictures but it looks like he's pretty stressed from the coloration pattern he's showing.
One thing worth mentioning is to make sure you are getting the tank oxygenated. I normally use a HOB style filter so...
